Vitamin B7, otherwise known as Biotin is a water soluble vitamin which helps us to breakdown fats, carbohydrates and proteins from the foods we eat. It’s often recommended to strength the hair and nails, and is also found in many hair and nail cosemetic products.
The body doesn’t store biotin, but crtain bacteria in the intestine can make biotin. It’s also deemed to be helpful for normal growth of babies during pregnancy. It is however rare to be deficient in Biotin.
Low vitamin B12 levels can have a significant impact on on mental and physical health. Symptoms can include:

Biotin injections are very safe for most people with no issues. There are a few cases where a biotin injection would not be recommended, these are:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Known Liver or Kidney Disease
- Active Cancer or currently undergoing treatment for cancer
- Allergy to the Biotin injections or ingredients within the injection such as calciferol
- History of raised Calcium levels (hypercalcemia)
Biotin injections can be safely administered to anyone who feels they need a boost every 4-6 months. There is no risk of toxicity as the body will only absorb the amount it needs and excretes any excess. The injection is administered into the upper arm.
