Cherry angiomas are small, bright red or purple skin lesions made up of tiny blood vessels. They are very common, particularly from the age of 30 onwards, and can appear anywhere on the body. While harmless, many people choose to remove them for cosmetic reasons or if they catch, bleed or become irritated.
At Skin Lab Aesthetics & Skin Rejuvenation, we treat cherry angiomas using Lynton Excelight IPL or Cryotherapy, depending on their size, location and appearance & patient preference.
• IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses targeted light energy that is absorbed by the blood within the lesion, causing it to safely heat, coagulate and gradually fade.
• Cryotherapy uses controlled freezing to destroy the lesion, allowing it to dry, scab and naturally fall away.
Your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate method during your consultation.
Many cherry angiomas respond well after just one treatment, although larger or thicker lesions may require more sessions.
Yes. Both IPL and cryotherapy are clinically recognised treatments for vascular lesions. We use medically certified equipment and carry out a thorough assessment to ensure suitability and safety.
Downtime is minimal. The treated area may appear slightly darker, red or form a small scab before healing. This usually settles within 1–2 weeks.
